I have been drawing and painting most of my life, focusing on abstract acrylic canvas paintings, with eclectic use of materials and styles. My work represents what is important to my own sensibility and reflects my own evolving creative tastes. I rarely start painting with a concept or theme in mind (except possibly a central shape or form), letting the painting develop organically, spontaneously and more authentically. Hopefully my work also resonates with you as well.
I work in my home studio in the mountains of central New Mexico, looking out over the vast high desert landscape, the azure skies and nearly daily sunshine. Roadrunners, coyotes, hummingbirds, deer, and an occasional bear surround us in a quiet, serene environment, which is also pitch dark at night, all highlighting the beauty around us.
This also allows me to focus and contemplate on my paintings, including the opportunity to "let go" on some paintings, exploring the physical nature of putting brush to canvas.
